Magnetic Resonance and Rapid Scan ESR: Current Applications and Future Directions
Magnetic resonance is one of the most widely used experimental techniques across scientific and applied disciplines and is broadly familiar to the public through medical imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). During the talk, particular emphasis will be placed on recent advances in high-frequency ESR spectroscopy. The development of pulsed ESR at microwave frequencies above 100 GHz remains technically challenging and costly due to the limited output power of modern high-frequency solid-state electronics. Nevertheless, key scientific challenges-including DNP-enhanced NMR and emerging quantum technologies based on electron spins-require access to spin relaxation measurements at sub-terahertz and terahertz frequencies.
